Purakanui School

Kia ora and welcome to  Purakanui School's  website.  Purakanui is situated north of Port Chalmers with a northward opening inlet.  It has a sheltered bay with a long sandy beach reaching out to the headland and location of a now gone ancient Maori Pa, Mapoutahi.  Purakanui is a picturesque and relaxing town with spectacular walks and places to explore nearby.

Our school is set amidst farmland overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the land slopes north towards the sun.  Our playground is huge, with play opportunities ranging from tennis on the court to hut-building in the trees.

Our community is extremely supportive and sees the school as a focal point for the townships of Long Beach, Purakanui and Osborne.

The children enjoy being part of a large "school family" with all ages from 5 to 12 mixing for play and study.  Our experienced and deeply committed staff ensure the education programme is fun, varied and challenging.
